Published in the Circleville Herald on January 5, 2026
The Pickaway County Council on Youth Leadership (PCCYL) recognizes and rewards local students who have demonstrated leadership qualities in their community, church, and organizations. Twenty-one students were nominated in their Junior year for their community leadership contributions and were honored by PCCYL.
Those students nominated at Circleville High School were Kasey Borders, Claire Davis, and Allie Mullins. Isabelle Perini and Amelia Tarbill. Kimberly Petty, Peyton Richendollar, and Marlo Smith were nominated for Logan Elm. Representing Teays Valley High School were Abigail Baker, Katherine Charter, Madeline Frymyer, Lillian Gaal, Mitchell Isralewitz, Jensen Koch, and Nolan Lupfer. Selected from Westfall High School were Cora Bruce, Dalton Bush, Sierra Chalk, Lily Danielson, Adrian Moehl, and Jaelyn Pounds.
All students were eligible to compete for a total of $8,000 in cash awards, available and sponsored by our local patrons. All students in the competition were required to write an essay on “How will you use your leadership skills to impact your future and the world around you?” All of these students were invited to attend the banquet to hear inspirational remarks from Mr. Nathan Smith, Superintendent of Southeastern Local School District.
During the banquet, the top leaders and the alternates were announced. Top leaders received a beautiful flower arrangement in their school colors, donated by Wagner’s Flowers and Gifts. The students selected were Allie Mullins from Circleville, Kimberly Petty from Logan Elm, Abigail Baker from Teays Valley, and Jaelyn Pounds from Westfall. The five students chosen as alternates were Amelia Tarbill from Circleville, Peyton Richendollar from Logan Elm, Nolan Lupfer from Teays Valley, and Dalton Bush from Westfall, who are eligible to step in if the top leaders have other commitments and are unavailable.
Additional awards were given for the Walter Hall Community Service Award, the Richard Fisher Outstanding Essay Award, and, in its initial year, the Dan Fouts Exceptional Interview Award.
