In February, Mrs. Stonerock's kindergarten class celebrated its 100th day by writing letters to 100 schools in all 50 states! Since then, they have been receiving responses from all over America. They have received letters from an island in Florida, a letter written in Braille, a letter from a Native American reservation, rooms with four kindergarteners, and rooms with 30-plus students. It's been a great learning experience for both the senders and the recipients!

Field Day is May 21 with inflatables, games, a dunk tank, and snow cones—it'll be a blast! Students (PK-5) must have a signed permission slip to participate. We are also looking for volunteers to help run the stations! Permission slips and volunteer forms will be sent home soon.

A vending machine... for books! Check out this awesome new addition to Westfall Elementary School! We are so grateful for the staff and community members who made this happen. We have a good feeling that "Inchy's Bookworm Vending Machine" gets lots of use from our students.

We will sell them on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone!
You can email Miss Wynkoop at katie.wynkoop@westfallschools.com to reserve an extra yearbook for your student or send in payment with your student to purchase.

Mrs. Wippel's 2nd-graders transformed into zoologists last week as they got up close and personal observing, measuring, and researching the earthworms that improve our soil! Great job, zoologists! What a great way to explore the world around us!

Mrs. Yeager's WHS Food Science students recently visited Mrs. Whitt's and Miss Wolfe's third-graders to help them use fractions in a real-world setting by incorporating them into a recipe for trail mix. This is another great collaboration between the elementary and high schools!

Reminder: With the rare total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024, casting parts of Ohio into temporary darkness, Westfall Local School District is proactively adjusting its academic calendar for the safety of its students and staff.
As the eclipse coincides with many schools' dismissal times, we understand the potential traffic concerns. Following guidance and consultation with local law enforcement agencies, Westfall Local Schools has decided to cancel school for students and staff on Monday, April 8, 2024, to ensure everyone's safety during this unique celestial event.
We understand this schedule change may impact families' plans for the day. However, our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
For more information about the Total Solar Eclipse, including how to view it safely, please visit https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/.
